The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter (Official Lyric Video)

“Gimme Shelter” by The Rolling Stones
Composers: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards

Lyrics:

Oh, a storm is threat’ning
My very life today
If I don’t get some shelter
Oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away

War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin’
Our very street today
Burns like a red coat carpet
Mad bull lost your way

War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
Rape, murder!
It’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
Rape, murder!
It’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away

The flood is threat’ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I’m gonna fade away

War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
I tell you love, sister, it’s just a kiss away
It’s just a kiss away
It’s just a kiss away
It’s just a kiss away
It’s just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

Steely Dan – Reelin’ In the Years

Title: Reelin’ In the Years (track 06)

Artist: Steely Dan
Album: Can’t Buy a Thrill
Year: 1972
Label: ABC
Writer(s): Walter Becker, Donald Fagen

Lyrics:

Your everlasting summer and you can see it fading fast
So you grab a piece of something that you think is gonna last
Well, you wouldn’t know a diamond if you held it in your hand
The things you think are precious I can’t understand

Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine
Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine

You’ve been telling me you’re a genius since you were seventeen
In all the time I’ve known you I still don’t know what you mean
The weekend at the college didn’t turn out like you planned
The things that pass for knowledge I can’t understand

Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine
Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine

I’ve spent a lot of money and I’ve spent a lot of time
The trip we made to Hollywood is etched upon my mind
After all the things we’ve done and seen you find another man
The things you think are useless I can’t understand

Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine
Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine

Here Comes the Sun” is a song written by George Harrison that was first released on the Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road. Along with “Something” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, it is one of Harrison’s best-known compositions from the Beatles era. The song was written at the country house of his friend Eric Clapton, where Harrison had chosen to play truant for the day, to avoid attending a meeting at the Beatles’ Apple Corps organisation. The lyrics reflect the composer’s relief at both the arrival of spring and the temporary respite he was experiencing from the band’s business affairs.

The Beatles recorded “Here Comes the Sun” at London’s EMI Studios in the summer of 1969. Led by Harrison’s acoustic guitar, the recording also features Moog synthesizer, which he had introduced to the Beatles’ sound after acquiring an early model of the instrument in California. Reflecting the continued influence of Indian classical music on Harrison’s writing, the composition includes a series of unusual time changes.

“Here Comes the Sun” has received acclaim from music critics. Combined with his other contribution to Abbey Road, “Something”, it gained for Harrison the level of recognition as a songwriter that had previously been reserved for his bandmates John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Harrison played the song during many of his relatively rare live performances as a solo artist, including at the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971 and, with Paul Simon, during his appearance on Saturday Night Live in 1976. Richie Havens[1] and Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel each had hit singles with “Here Comes the Sun” in the 1970s. Nina Simone, George Benson, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Peter Tosh and Joe Brown are among the many other artists who have covered the song.

Led Zeppelin – Hey Hey What Can I Do (7” Vinyl)

Turntable playback recording of the B-side from Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song/Hey, Hey, What Can I Do” 45 RPM 7” Stereo vinyl record.
Released in the United States in 1970 under the Atlantic label (Catalog# 45-2777).

Notice: This is a revised version of the clip that I originally put 2 years ago on my old channel ( http://www.youtube.com/user/younghifi ).
The main difference is that this version has been recorded better, especially on the audio side, as the sound from the original clip had a lot of audible distortion and background noise.
To those who have seen the original clip: I hope you like this version better than the old one 🙂

Technical information:
Vinyl record played on a Technics SL-1600mk2 turntable with a Audio Technica AT440MLa cartridge. The sound signal from the turntable was fed into a Sansui 9090DB amplituner’s phono stage and then redirected to a Cakewalk UA-1G USB Audio Interface, connected to my laptop PC, on which it was recorded, cut, encoded to a 320kbps CBR MP3 file (with Audacity) and then later merged and sync’ed with the video (with VirtualDub).

There was no sound filtering done. This is the raw audio feed.

The video portion of the clip was recorded with a Camera EX-Z850 digital camera.
Sound and video were recorded at the same time.
Feel free to comment on this video.

LYRICS Hotel California – Eagles

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
‘This could be heaven or this could be Hell’
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year) you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain
Please bring me my wine’
He said, ‘we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty-nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise), bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said, we are all just prisoners here, of our own device
And in the master’s chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
Relax, said the night man
We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave!

Song: You Ain’t Got A Hold On Me
Album: High Voltage (Australia)
Year: 1975
Lyrics:
You can roll me round your finger
You can roll me if I’m blind
You can roll me tally ho ho
I’m easy rollin’ kind
But don’t think I’m facin’ down hill
‘Cause soon you’ll see
You’ll lose your grip and slip
‘Cause you ain’t got a hold on me

CHORUS:
You ain’t got a hold on me
You ain’t got a hold on me
Why don’t you let me free
‘Cause you ain’t got a hold on me

You can take me to your bedroom
You can take me to your heart
You can take me to a climax
I won’t fall apart
But don’t count on me givin’ it
All back to you
Just because I’m hooked on livin
Doesn’t mean I’m hooked on you

Bob Seger ~ Night Moves (1976) ° .. *.☾°*. ●°*. ♫

http://youtu.be/BFRVegQZ_r0

Song: ‘Night Moves’
Artist/Composer: Bob Seger
Album: ‘Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
Night Moves’ (1976) Certified multi-platinum US & Canada

A fantastic classic from Bob Seger 🙂 ‘Night Moves’ reached #4 on US Billboard Hot 100, #5 in Canada, #25 in Australia. “The song was responsible for changing Seger from being a popular regional favorite into a national star.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_M…) ‘Night Moves’ is one of my favorite Bob Seger songs, next to ‘Till it Shines’. I love the part about waking to the sound of thunder!

A song with lots of reflection… “To a quiet acoustic guitar, the narrator, awakened by a clap of thunder and unable to fall back asleep, ponders a different sense of the title phrase. Seger said this passage was inspired by late-night self-analysis and “the uncertainty night represents”: “I was thinking about the whole aura of nighttime, the four o’clock in the morning moment when you assess yourself, check your weaknesses.”[9] Then the rest of the instruments fall back in, for an extended coda vamp of the chorus.”

His producer “Richardson said that “the whole arrangement came together in the studio.”[1] The decision for an unusual bridge (consisting of three separate movements) was inspired by the Bruce Springsteen song “Jungleland”. He credited that song, in addition to the Born to Run album, with helping him complete the song: “He had like a multiple bridge, he had various different things going on, and I thought to myself, ‘That’s how I’ll finish ‘Night Moves.'” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_M…)

I’ve had this video up once before but it got blocked. Sometimes things change in this respect and there are others up, so I thought I’d try again. It has 9 blocks, I’ve put in a request for it to be unblocked in all 🙂

Black Sabbath – Sabbra Cadabra
Album: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Year: 1973

Lyrics:

Feel so good I feel so fine
Love that little lady always on my mind
She gives me lovin’ every night and day
Never gonna leave her
Never going away

Someone to love me
You know she makes me feel alright
Someone who needs me
Love me every single night

Feel so happy since I met that girl
When we’re making love
It’s something out of this world
Feels so good to know that she’s all mine
Going to love that woman till the end of time

Someone to live for
Love me till the end of time
Makes me feel happy
Good to know that she’s all mine

Lovely lady make love all night long
Lovely lady never do me no wrong
I don’t wanna leave ya
I never wanna leave ya
Anymore no more

Lovely lady
Mystifying eyes
Lovely lady
She don’t tell me no lies
I know I’ll never leave ya
I’m never gonna leave ya
Anymore no more

Lyrics:

As soon as you are able
Woman I am willing
To make the break that we
Are on the brink of
My cup is on the table
Our love is spilling
Waiting here for you to
Take and drink of
So if you’re tired of the

The “matchstick men” of the song refers to the paintings of L.S. Lowry, who made paintings with thin, spindly people on it. *

Lead vocals & guitar: Francis Rossi.
Bass, vocals: Alan Lancaster.

producer: John Schroeder
Alan Florence: engineer

PICTURES OF MATCHSTICK MEN
(Francis Dominic Nicholas Rossi)

When I look up to the sky
I see your eyes, a funny kind of yellow
I rush home to bed, I soak my head
I see your face underneath my pillow
I wake next morning, tired still yawning
See your face come peeking through my window

Pictures of matchstick men and you
mirages of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and you

Windows echo your reflection
When I look in their direction gone
When will this haunting stop
Your face, it just won’t leave me alone

Pictures of matchstick men and you
mirages of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and you

You in the sky, you with the sky
You make me cry, your eyes

You in the sky, you with this guy
You make men cry, you lie

Pictures of matchstick men and
Pictures of matchstick men and

Rossi said the song is about a bad marriage: well, when I watch the paintings of Lowry they make me feel sad, just like pictures of his then wife made Rossi feel sad. Guess that is the true meaning of the lyrics.
